I am a news junkie and admittedly if I had cable plus the extra TV I would probably have either CNN or CBC Newsworld on the whole time I’m in my room I jokingly call my office. Gasoline prices are still climbing, according to a motorist group's latest survey, but there was a little bit of good news for drivers yesterday in a federal government report showing increased U.S. inventories of crude oil and higher refinery production rates.

Oil up! Freak out! Dow up? Shut up! The state-run media in Canada (and the citizen-owned media who do their best to compete with them) all lament, daily (with intra-day lament updates, all day long), the price of a barrel of oil, and the resulting price of gas. US News&World Report, an authoritative source for US university rankings has launched an auto ranking website in what seems to be an expansion move towards a general online ranking service.

GM will resume production of Lucernes and DTS' at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant on April 28, ending a four-week shutdown. They had closed the plant because of a parts shortage caused by the American Axle strike. GM won't say where the axles are coming from; the Detroit News quotes "sources familiar with production" as saying only they're buying parts "from another supplier." Amazon has grown into a mega online outlet, offering everything from DRM-free MP3s to baby diapers. Newegg may soon carry Pampers too. Currently in beta form, NeweggMall.com gives smaller retailers an online outlet to hawk their goods, with Newegg taking a portion of the revenue from the sale. The site will offficiall go live May 27.
